Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana would like to recognize Susan Sheets for her many years of service to education in the Shelbyville community. Described by students and staff as “hard working, tenacious, thoughtful, caring, and motivating,” Susan recently retired after the 2021 - 22 school year.

At 19 years old, I am proud to say that I graduated from high school this year as the salutatorian of my class. Originally from Venezuela, I earned an education at home that did not transfer to the United States. Upon learning about the education opportunities right here in Noblesville, I was thrilled to learn about The Excel Center®, a free high school for adults owned and operated by Goodwill, which led me to the happiest year of my life so far!

Goodwill proudly celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month, a time to honor the innumerable achievements and contributions of Latinx Americans. 

It’s been two years since Pete Yonkman, CEO of Cook Medical, a medical device manufacturing company based in Bloomington, Indiana, approached Goodwill’s leadership about partnering on a unique project. Those conversations came on the heels of the murder of George Floyd and pandemic-related racial disparities and included questions about social justice and the role we play as employers in helping to strengthen our communities.
