In 2011, Tulay Ergin moved from Turkey to the United States to support her husband’s pursuit of a Ph.D. After a 10-year break from her own career in surgical nursing, she wanted to rejoin the workforce.

Gloria Combs has shown amazing drive and passion for education, always pushing limits to prove her capabilities. After graduating from The Excel Center® in 2013 and finishing her high school diploma, Gloria went on to pursue a career as a life coach to inspire others just as she was inspired by her own life coach. She has been a major advocate for education ever since. 

Laura Torres moved to Indiana at 22 years old without an education and spoke only Spanish. Today, Laura speaks fluent English, is finishing her high school diploma through The Excel Center®, Goodwill’s tuition-free high school for adults, and is pursuing a degree in psychology after she graduates.

Diana Wolfe, an immigrant and adopted orphan from Latvia — a ​​country of northeastern Europe and the middle of the three Baltic states — has been recently promoted as Retail Store Manager in Whitestown. Diana cannot wait to continue growing her career with Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana, hoping to someday adopt a child of her own. 

Lawrence Aboyer, soon to be Junior at Purdue University, recently finished his summer engineering internship at Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana. Lawrence worked under Matt Byam, Manufacturing Engineer, and Clara Walker, Quality Engineer at Goodwill Commercial Services.

As the summer came to a close, Millani Evans looked back on her time spent as a Manufacturing Engineer Intern for Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana over the past two summers. 

As I wrapped up my last days with Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana, I wanted to share my own experiences working as a summer 2021 Marketing Intern. 

This summer, Antonio Dominguez, Computer Science and Economics Major at Vanderbilt University, worked as an Infrastructure Intern in Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana’s department of Information Technology. 

Audrey Land has been working for Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana for the past four years and shows incredible drive and dedication — both individually and professionally — as she follows her career goals at Goodwill. 

Recent graduate Brielle Miles took new steps to grow her career this summer through Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana’s internship program. Brielle worked as an Employee and Development Training Department (EDAT) intern under her supervisor Justin DeGuzman, with Goodwill’s Commercial Services division.
