This summer, Antonio Dominguez, Computer Science and Economics Major at Vanderbilt University, worked as an Infrastructure Intern in Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana’s department of Information Technology.
He was able to gain valuable skills implementing an asset management program that records and tracks an asset throughout its lifecycle. He also found practical uses for software to increase productivity in the company.
Antonio’s most memorable experience was taking a tour of the Goodwill Commercial Services facility in Indianapolis. Here, he was able to visualize the diverse array of machinery on the floor, learning about the capabilities of the machines and their uses.
One skill Antonio gained was the ability to problem-solve. His department had regular meetings working on an issue in their field, which helped him recognize the importance of collaboration when it came to problem-solving.
“It was interesting to see everyone’s expertise shine through when they noticed a potential problem and how they go about solving it,” said Antonio.
Antonio will be a senior this year at Vanderbilt. He plans to pursue a career in Network Security post-graduation as a Network Administrator and to move to New York City.
“I really enjoyed my time working with everyone, and I hope to continue to support Goodwill and its vision wherever I go,” said Antonio. “I rarely go a week without shopping at a Goodwill retail store.”
Thank you, Antonio, for your hard work this summer!
