Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana takes great pride in celebrating our employees' many years of dedication to the mission. Those who have achieved milestones of over 15 years of service are recognized each year at the annual Service Award Luncheon.

At this event, employees are presented with award certificates and connect over a meal. These certificates have quotes from their managers, who thank them for their contributions to the organization as well as their contributions and distinguishing traits. Kent A. Kramer, Goodwill’s CEO and president, also congratulated those recognized at the event personally.

“While your work ethic and dedication are very apparent, your kindness and care for others has really affected your coworkers and impressed me,” said Kent to Shawn Basore, who contributed over 35 years to the mission.

Last year, over 40 people were recognized for achieving 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of contributing to Goodwill’s mission of changing lives everyday. Being able to maintain such a long tenure doesn’t just take dedication to impacting the community – it also requires a support system that has been cultivated at Goodwill, by Goodwill.

We offer resources to ensure that employees are at their best physically, mentally and emotionally. With tools such as free mental health services and continuing education opportunities, employees can not only thrive in their work but also in their personal lives.

Nurse Health Coaches are another free resource provided to Goodwill employees. They can help employees find opportunities to impact different aspects of their individual wellness, such as emotional, physical or even recreational health. Alongside wellness grants, which can fund activities that can improve health, Goodwill employees can make drastic changes in their lifestyle.

For every 10 years of continuous dedication to the mission, employees are eligible for Goodwill’s REFRESH benefit, a paid, three-week leave from work. It can be a chance to focus on a personal goal or go on a dream vacation and return to work with a renewed sense of purpose and focus. For many at the luncheon, they were excited to start thinking about what they’d do with their time away from work.

Like the Service Award Luncheon, REFRESH is a way to ensure that employees have the tools they need to keep changing lives and that they’re recognized for that great work!
