At Goodwill, giving back is more than a mission — it’s a movement that transforms lives and communities. The proceeds from your Goodwill donations and purchases stay right here in our community, empowering Hoosiers to increase their independence and reach their potential.
Whether it’s connecting people with meaningful employment, putting them on a path to completing their education, or removing a barrier that is impeding an individual’s growth, Goodwill’s commitment to giving back touches thousands of lives every day. Following are some of the ways Goodwill is giving back over the holidays.
Prior to Thanksgiving, Goodwill partnered with Mount Paran Baptist Church on our 4th Annual Turkey Giveaway to provide turkeys and other grocery items for residents on Indy’s east side.
In addition, Goodwill New Beginnings, a program for Hoosiers reentering society after a period of incarceration, supported participants by providing them with gift cards to Indy Fresh Market, where they were able to shop for their own Thanksgiving meals. Over 75 participants accessed $75,000 worth of high-quality food for themselves and their families.
“It was definitely fulfilling to witness the joy and relief on the faces of our participants as they received their groceries,” said Latoya Hughes, a Goodwill New Beginnings coach who coordinated the opportunity. “Moments like this reinforce our commitment to supporting our community in meaningful ways.”
Goodwill’s risk management and support teams hosted their 10th Annual Christmas Campaign, raising $2,500 to support families across the Goodwill organization who may be struggling during the holiday season. Goodwill’s corporate office staff took pledge cards from the “Giving Tree” (pictured below) and submitted their contributions through the accompanying gift box.
Goodwill Nurse-Family Partnership®, a program that pairs first-time, low-income families with a registered nurse for ongoing home visits from pregnancy through the child’s second birthday, hosted its 6th Annual Toy Drive to collect items for families.
In addition, Goodwill’s retail stores, manufacturing sites and high schools each hosted their own holiday celebrations for staff and students, including food drives, games, pitch-ins, gift exchanges and more.
