Each year, neighbors at Goodwill Horizon House get to experience the normalcy of a holiday meal thanks to Ben and Darla Slaughter. But ask them about it, and they’ll be quick to say, “this isn’t about us.” For them, it’s about honoring their neighbors, real people, who deserve to feel cared for, respected, and included during a season when many are reminded of what they don’t have.

Joshua Moore, a dedicated supporter of Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana and a part of our Legacy Club as a member of the 1635 Society, has a deep commitment to the organization’s mission. As a former Goodwill Young Leaders Board member and 2022 Board President, Josh first connected with Goodwill through a former colleague, who introduced him to the organization’s expansive offerings beyond its well-known retail stores. After learning about Goodwill’s diverse and impactful programs—from criminal record expungement to technology skill-building for older adults —Joshua became a passionate advocate for its work.

As a high school senior, Ryan Keith Harding (Keith) had it all figured out: he would attend college at A&T State University in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he was awarded a scholarship. After graduation, he would do a stint in the Marine Corps before settling into a career with the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
