At Goodwill, our mission is to change lives every day by empowering people to increase their independence and reach their potential through employment, education, housing and health. However, that mission doesn’t just apply to the people we serve in our mission programs; we also want to ensure that empowerment is extended to our over 6,000 Goodwill employees, whom we want to care for holistically.
Caring about an individual as a whole means meeting them where they are, allowing them the opportunity to raise their hand and having resources available for them to grow in all areas – professionally and personally. Goodwill presents different options for people to fulfill themselves and reach their full potential. One person may be focused on their personal health, while another is focused on improving their finances; both can find a path to success here!
Many employees benefit from our free coaching programs, which can help uncover that path to success. Goodwill Mission Coaches help our employees set and reach goals in their personal and professional lives, including increasing credit scores, working toward a promotion and more.
New Beginnings, Goodwill’s reentry program, provides our employees impacted by the criminal justice system resources and wraparound services to help them return to society successfully. This can include assistance with overcoming barriers, addressing legal challenges and more. Nurse Health Coaches work with employees on their wellness, whether that’s related to managing chronic health conditions, losing weight or even finding ways to detach from devices. Both coaching programs connect employees with resources and partnerships to attain housing, improve finances and more.
Moreover, mental health has played a key role in caring for our employees holistically. We offer the Employee Assistance Program, a short-term therapy option that can also connect employees with resources, referrals and services. Several years ago, Goodwill partnered with Tava Health, which provides 15 free therapy sessions to employees, their spouses and dependents. In May 2026, during Mental Health Awareness Month, Goodwill employees reached a milestone of 8,760 completed therapy sessions since that partnership began.
Additionally, Goodwill is a 2026 Platinum recipient of the Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health from Mental Health America. This recognition not only highlights our robust mental health support, but also our comprehensive commitment to care. When our employees are at their best, they can bring their best to the work we do and beyond – to their families, friends and passions.
