When Alicia Misch started working at Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana 16 years ago, she never expected that her job would lead to her meeting the love of her life.

“I just needed a job at the time,” said Alicia. “I didn’t know Goodwill would play such a huge role in the rest of my life.”

After joining the Goodwill store in Speedway as a Team Leader, Alicia developed friendships with her coworkers. On an outing with her colleagues, she met Bryan, a friend of another store leader. They connected and Alicia gave him her number.

The two began to see each other, coordinating dates that worked with Alicia’s busy schedule. At the time, she was a mother of a 6-month-old and a 5-year-old from a previous relationship, and this led to cozy dates with movies and pizza at home.

“We had just come out of really long relationships,” said Alicia. “However, once we got together – that was it. We became a little family.”

Bryan moved in and both continued working and taking care of their family. Nearly a year later, on Valentine’s Day, Bryan sent Alicia three gifts while he was at work: a teddy bear, flowers and a card asking her for her hand in marriage.

“I was so excited to marry him that we planned the wedding for July of that year,” said Alicia.

The flower girls were her two daughters. After a small, close-knit ceremony on a hot summer day, the couple were wed.

“Because we had such young children to look after, we didn’t go on a honeymoon,” said Alicia “I always like to joke that we got married on Saturday and went to work on Monday.”

In July 2025, Bryan and Alicia will be celebrating their 13th anniversary. Now, their two daughters are 19-years-old and 14-years-old. The couple also had a son together, who will be turning 11 in July. The family has a dog, two cats and a bearded dragon.

Alicia’s family enjoys the outdoors, fishing and riding four-wheelers and go-carts. Though they’ve settled down in a home, they’d like to find a property with more land to be active outside more often. Regardless, Alicia enjoys life with her family as it comes.

“We’re living the dream,” said Alicia.
