Every day, Goodwill changes lives through employment, education, housing and health. To serve thousands of individuals daily, we have a workforce who contributes to our mission in a variety of ways, whether that contribution is helping customers in our retail stores or educating students in one of our schools.

“It’s very important to have colleagues that care for the community’s well-being,” said Lisa Allen, Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Goodwill. “We’re proud to be able to retain and celebrate that talent.”

At this year’s Service Award Luncheon, the organization had the opportunity to celebrate those who achieved 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and even 40 years of contributing to the mission. Over 60 employees were recognized for achieving such terrific milestones in their career.

To celebrate Goodwill of Central Illinois and Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana employees, we hosted a luncheon in both Peoria and Indianapolis respectively. At these events, employees were presented with award certificates and have the opportunity to connect over a meal. The certificates have quotes from their managers, who thank them for their contributions to the organization and recognize their distinctive qualities.

Being able to work for an organization that touches so many lives in such transformative ways resonates with many employees. Moreover, some employees are beneficiaries of Goodwill’s mission as well. They’re able to see and experience firsthand that Goodwill is much more than a thrift store; we support youth, veterans, those looking to return to the workforce after incarceration, and those with disabilities.

We offer services and programs that help people reach their full potential and find greater independence. Our tuition free school for adults, The Excel CenterⓇ, helps individuals earn a Core 40 diploma, improving their job prospects and earning potential. Goodwill Nurse-Family PartnershipⓇ helps first-time families, providing them with registered nurses who support them in their parenting journey.

Each year, our service luncheon thanks our employees for dedicating themselves to our mission and to the many people who turn to Goodwill for life-altering support.
