Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana is proud to continue our recognition of National Employ Older Workers Week, a period to acknowledge and increase awareness of the contributions older workers have in our workforce. This commemorative week also highlights the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), a work-based training program for older adults available across the nation.

The last full week of September is National Employ Older Workers Week, a period to recognize and increase awareness about the essential older workers in our workforce. Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana is proud to highlight the older workers who contribute to our mission of changing lives through education, health and employment daily.

Indianapolis Metropolitan High School is Goodwill’s best-fit school for grades 9-12, supporting teenaged students experiencing barriers to education and ensuring graduates can either enter college or the workforce. These outcomes are met through a number of wraparound services Indy Met offers for its student population, including transportation, child care and family empowerment coaching.

World Breastfeeding Week (August 1 - August 7) is an annual, global campaign to raise awareness and inspire action on issues affecting breastfeeding. Goodwill Nurse-Family PartnershipⓇ, a program that pairs first-time expectant parents with registered nurses, recognizes this week as a great opportunity to share information on a commonly misunderstood topic.

In May 2023, Madi LaFollette started working as a cashier in a Goodwill store in Carmel, Indiana. Within a month, the fresh addition to the Goodwill family became a valuable team member and an asset to the store’s operations. She entered a welcoming work environment and gained teammates who were ready to support her.

Goodwill Nurse-Family Partnership® (NFP) is a maternal-child health program that pairs registered nurses with first-time, expectant parents. Through one-on-one visits, NFP Nurses deliver trusted information to families for healthy births and childhoods until the child turns two. Every spring, Goodwill NFP highlights a nurse who has exceeded their expectations with the “Nurse of the Year” accolade.

In 2017, Pency Engmawii graduated from The Excel Center®, Goodwill’s tuition-free high school for adults, with a Core 40 diploma. Her drive and persistence on her academic journey were recognized in 2018 with Goodwill’s Education Achievement Award.

Goodwill New Beginnings, Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana’s reentry program, was excited to celebrate its second graduation in 2023. In a June ceremony, 12 individuals who have experienced the justice system were honored for accomplishing their reentry goals and fulfilling all of the requirements to graduate from the program.
