In addition to being named Educator of the Year at The Excel Center in Noblesville, Carolyn McKinney was also named the overall Goodwill Educator of the Year after an additional selection process. In her application, Carolyn wrote:

“I see you. Teaching is difficult work.  But let me remind you, you have the power to change not only your students’ futures but their children’s futures.

Perhaps, like me, you’ll work with adults, offering them acceptance, a second chance, an opportunity to unlearn the lies they have been told about what they will never do, how they could never learn.

I am forever in debt to those caring teachers. I have spent 30 years attempting to repay that debt forward to another generation.

May your students know how much you care and care how much you know.

May each of you find yourselves standing a little taller- you can change futures!”

Congratulations to each of these recipients! If you or any great educators you know are interested in a career at one of our schools, please visit goodwillindy.org/careers.
